About Club Penguin

Club penguin is an online role playing game for children aged 6  to 14.  It involves a virtual world containing a range of online games and activities.

All players use cartoon penguin avatars in a winter setting.  Club penguin is now a large online community with free membership available.  You can see how much you enjoy playing Club Penguin, then you can sign up for paid membership which allows players to access a range of additional features.  In game currency is used to purchase ‘Puffles’ which are pets for the penguins and you can buy virtual clothing and furniture for your puffles.

The developers of Club Penguin have a major focus on child safety and a number of features have been put in place to facilitate this including ‘Ultimate Safe Chat’ which is filtered to prevent swearing and the revelation of personal information.  Club Penguin is also policed by moderators and veteran players who are promoted to ’secret Agents’ and encoraged to report inappropriate behavior.
